The Mission of Garber Church

To be the church by loving God and loving people [Matthew 22:37-40, John 13:34-35] forward to the foot of the cross of Christ [1 Corinthians 2:1-2, 1 Thessalonians 2:8], in hopes that others may know God [Ephesians 3:17-19, 1 Corinthians 9:19-23], be known by God [Matthew 7:21], and seek to make him known [Matthew 28:19-20].

We do this by engaging, encouraging, empowering, and equipping the saints for ministry to reach our church, our community, and to all of creation  [John 3:16-17, Romans 1:16, Ephesians 4:11-16].

The Vision

Act as a safe harbor to provide hope, healing and wholeness for all who thirst for the living water of Jesus Christ as we faithfully send out disciples to seek and save the lost.

Garber is committed to be a Harbor that acts as both a safe haven, a place of hope and healing, as well as a sending station, a place of equipping and deployment: Sent out of the Harbor as delivered, transformed, and reconciled ambassadors of Christ to seek and save the lost. We don’t do this out of our own power, but by the power and the Spirit of Jesus.
[2 Cor. 5:14-21, John 7:37-38, 1 Cor. 9:17-23, Luke 10:45, John 3:30]

The Values

Worship Passionately
Love Extravagantly
Witness Boldly

A Surrendered church, earnestly seeking the Lordship of Christ.  In our worship, we desire to surrender to and be fully devoted to one God - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We are passionate about what is important to God.
[Rom. 12:1-2,  Matt. 22: 37-40, Heb. 12:1-2]

A Sanctified church, faithfully loving people forward to the foot of the cross.  Jesus calls those who follow Him to love God wholeheartedly and love their neighbors as themselves. Our desire is to demonstrate to the world the extravagant love of God in the person of Jesus Christ.
[1 John 4:16,  John 13:34-35,  John 15:13]

A Spirit-Led church, joyfully sharing the Gospel and Life with others.  We have been entrusted with a lifesaving and transforming message that we must share with others. Our witness is bold, compelling and fearless. Our mission advances when individuals become disciples of Jesus Christ and join God’s mission to make more disciples. [1 Thes. 2:8, 1 Cor 9,  John 12:24-26, Matt. 28:19-20, 1 Tim. 1:5]

Core Beliefs

On January 1, 2023 Garber Methodist Church will become a congregation under the Global Methodist Church.
The mission of Global Methodist Church is to make disciples of
Jesus Christ who worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly.

ALMIGHTY GOD

The loving Creator who offers a covenant relationship with all human kind. We believe in one God- the Creator of all things--
infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

JESUS CHRIST

The reigning Savior who overcomes the sins of the world. We believe in Jesus Christ our Lord--the Son of God--who was born of the Virgin Mary, died on the cross, and was physically resurrected. His death, burial, and resurrection rescued followers from sin and provided the only way to abundant and eternal life with God.

THE HOLY SPIRIT

The empowering presence of God who indwells believers. We believe in the Holy Spirit- the active presence of God--
who sustains and helps disciples live as obedient followers of Christ. We affirm the fruit of the Spirit as Christ-like characteristics that are increasingly evident in maturing disciples. We also affirm gifts given by the Spirit that uniquely equip believers to minister within the church and world.

THE HOLY BIBLE

The authoritative guide that reveals God's plan for humanity. We believe the Scripture of the Old and New Testaments
is the divinely inspired Word of God, completely trustworthy, the final and supreme authority, recorded with accuracy by authors who were inspired by God through His Spirit to perceive God's truth.

SALVATION

The gift of undeserved grace that is received by faith in Jesus Christ. We believe that human kind was created
for a relationship with God, but separated from Him by sin. Only through repentance, faith, and trust in
Jesus Christ for salvation are persons reconciled with God.

THE CHURCH

The called community of those baptized into Jesus Christ that is commissioned to make disciples for Jesus Christ .
We believe that the church- the community of God's people- is called to love God first, invite all to salvation,
equip disciples for urgent mission and work together as the hands and feet of Christ in the world.

HUMAN SEXUALITY

THE GREAT COMMANDMENT

THE GREAT COMMISSION

We believe that God created all people in His image.  "For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.  Wonderful are your works; my soul know it very well." --Psalm 139:13-14. We believe in the sanctity of marriage between one man and one woman in accordance to the Scriptures.
"Love the Lord you God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength."
The second is this, "Love your neighbor as yourself." --Mark 12:29-31
"Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." --Matthew 28:19-20
